Vale MP Alun Cairns met with the Managing Director of the local bus company Adventure Travel to call for increased routes and funding into the Vale constituency.
In a positive and constructive meeting held at the Adventure Travel depot with Adam Keen, Alun Cairns called for Barry and the Vale to see new bus routes introduced to serve growing communities.
Alun Cairns commented on the meeting,
'it was great to meet with Adam and better understand the pressure they are under and their plans moving forward. I was shouting for the Vale and encouraging them to introduce/extend new routes to and protect existing ones such as the vital 303 though the Vale and 100 the Barry Town Circular.’
'It was fantastic to engage with Adam and hear about Adventure Travels expansion plans in the Vale. Adam certainly conveyed his excitement to run new and innovative routes while ensuring to protect existing routes.
'Buses form a vital part of serving our communities and I want to champion them; I certainly am Team Bus! Adam also raised the potential for the Vale to be the first to experience Adventure Travels brand new electric buses, this is very exciting and shows just how committed Adventure Travel are to Barry and the Vale.
Commenting further Alun Cairns MP stated,
‘I plan to meet with other bus companies very soon have similar discussions and support my constituents who regular use the bus service and to make buses and public transport a more attractive means of travelling.'
‘I have launched a bus survey on my website because I want to hear more about residents views on local bus services, how well they work, and how they can improve.’
Adam Keen commented on the meeting,
'Alun is very passionate about buses and the importance of strong and reliable local services. Adventure Travel are committed to the Vale and want to continue to improve and expand our services. We want to continue to promote buses both for environmental and economical reasons. Buses are great and I am glad Alun agrees!'
