Vale MP Alun Cairns has welcomed 18 year old Cameron Edwards to his new role as Member of the Youth Parliament (MYP) for the Vale of Glamorgan.
Cameron was recently elected by the Vale Youth Forum to be the representative for the Vale of Glamorgan in the UK Youth Parliament, which sits in the House of Commons in Westminster. The Youth Forum is made up of young people from across the Vale.
Mr Cairns said, “It’s a pleasure to welcome Cameron to his new role as MYP for the Vale of Glamorgan, he’s got great enthusiasm for politics. This is a fantastic opportunity for him to experience the House of Commons and contribute to young voices in politics.”
The A-Level student is currently in his final year at Stanwell School and says that he enjoys getting involved with his local community. His interests include Amateur Rocketry, Coding, and Politics.
Following his election victory, Cameron said, “It was an absolute privilege to be elected as the MYP for the Vale of Glamorgan. I am immensely grateful for being elected. I simply want to give a voice to young people who would otherwise go unheard. Any young person who has any concerns is free to message me and I would be delighted to help.”
