The Vale of Glamorgan Council have responded to calls from the Rhoose Parks Action Group regarding Heol Y Dryw Park and the potential adoption of the site.
The condition of the park, currently the responsibility of David Wilson Homes, has been branded “unacceptable” by the action group, who wish to see the site adopted and maintained by the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Responding to calls for the adoption of the site, the Council have confirmed that they are currently in discussions with David Wilson Homes with regard to bringing the site up to an acceptable standard. They added that the housing developer had not approached the Council with regard to taking over responsibility for the area, however the Council would be willing to discuss this provided the transfer requirements were satisfied.
Vale MP Alun Cairns said, “This is a positive step in improving the condition of the parks in Rhoose. I am pleased that the Council are open to talks regarding Heol Y Dryw park, and I look forward to working with them as well as the action group to ensure that the condition of the equipment is brought up to a good standard.”
Action group spokesperson Samantha Campbell added, “As a community group, we welcome this information from the council and its positive message for the future of this park. It would be the in the best interests of Rhoose residents for this park to be adopted by the council and we are looking into ways of making this happen, hopefully in conjunction with the VOG council and David Wilson Homes.”
