Cowbridge Museum, located within the Town Hall, celebrated its 30th anniversary on Saturday.
For three decades, the museum has sought to preserve and display artefacts from the town’s past.
Amongst the most fascinating of the objects and features on display are those relating to crime and punishment. Visitors may inspect gaol cells, a replica of the town’s stocks and view 19th Century police staves, long wooden rods used for keeping rowdy drunks at bay.
Vale MP Alun Cairns, who attended the 30th birthday celebrations said, “The local volunteers who look after the Cowbridge Museum are a credit to the town, they do a fantastic job of ensuring it is interesting and informative.
“Cowbridge is a town blessed with a rich history stretching back millennia, its museum reflects this with artefacts ranging from Roman grave statues to the nostalgia of grammar school caps. It is well worth a visit.”
Cowbridge Museum is open on the first and third Saturday of every month.
