The Post Office is set to reopen Cowbridge Post Office at a new location.
The new Cowbridge branch, which will launch on Monday 25 February, will offer Post Office products and services throughout shop opening hours from an open-plan till at the shop counter instead of from a separate screened counter.
The new location for the branch is Filco Foods, 2 High Street, Cowbridge, CF71 7AD.
When the move goes ahead, the branch would open, seven days a week, from 8:30am – 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. This will offer 63 hours of Post Office service every week.
Vale MP Alun Cairns said: “I am delighted that, after many months of negotiations and discussions, Cowbridge Post Office will reopen. Lots of residents contacted me to raise the issue of Cowbridge not having its own Post Office and I committed to do all that I can to help find a solution.
He added: "I am very grateful to Filco for the commitment they have made to take this on and I pay tribute to the work they are undertaking to remodel their business in order to accommodate the Post Office. This is a major boost for the High Street and will no doubt be welcomed by residents and businesses.”
Although the decision to reopen the branch has already been taken the Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move.
Gareth Shylon, Post Office Area Network Change Manager said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
He added: “We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
The Post Office welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered on this proposal. Customers can share their views at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 518611 until 19 February 2019.
