After school football club, Junior Dragons, is taking the Vale of Glamorgan by storm with sessions in schools up and down the county.
The club offers football training sessions, where boys and girls from Reception Class to Year Six come together to learn the sport’s key skills.
In its first five months, the club has quickly expanded, however is now looking to grow even further. In an application to the Welsh Government, Junior Dragons is seeking funding for an indoor training facility in order that they can continue to provide training through winter and spells of inclement weather.
Vale MP Alun Cairns who has written in support of the club in its bid for funding, joined the Thursday afternoon session in Ysgol Dewi Sant, Llantwit Major. Mr Cairns said: “Witnessing first-hand the work of Craig and his team was heart-warming. The children gave such a warm welcome to new players, and despite their competitive streak, gave a roaring cheer to Rhys who was chosen as player of the week.
“I wish the club all the best with its future endeavours. Here’s hoping that by winter they will have access to an indoor training facility so that their fantastic work can continue all year round.”
