Vale MP Alun Cairns visited Llantwit Major Post Office this week to provide some festive cheer and see how preparations were going in the build-up to Christmas, the busiest time of year for Post Office branches across the UK.
As the post office team were making final preparations to make Christmas 2017 as easy as possible for their customers, Alun Cairns MP was shown first-hand the wide range of services available for customers designed to take the stress out of the demanding festive season. The staff explained to Mr Cairns how important it is that customers adhere to the 'Last Posting Dates' if they want to guarantee the successful delivery of their mail before Christmas. The last dates for UK deliveries are Thursday 21 December for 1st Class and Special Delivery and Wednesday 20 December for 2nd Class.
Following the visit, Mr Cairns said: “It was fantastic to meet the team at Llantwit Major Post Office as they provide such a valuable service to the local community.
"At a time when the threat of Post Office closure is all too familiar, it was brilliant to see the queues out of the door at the Llantwit Major branch.
"I am so impressed by the dedication of the team who are working tirelessly at this time of year. I wish them every success during this busy period."
Postmaster Matthew Hunt commented: “Christmas is one of our busiest times of the year. We were delighted that Alun Cairns MP took time out from his busy schedule to support us and recognise the valuable service we provide to our local community.”
