Rhoose Community Library opened its doors to crowds of budding authors and book worms this weekend, who gathered to meet St Athan author Anthony Lavisher. Mr Lavisher gave a reading from each of his three books which form a celtic themed trilogy.
The library, now community run, is largely reliant on donations thus fundraising events of this type are crucial to its existence.
Throughout the open day, hundreds of visitors came to the library including Assembly Members Jane Hutt and Andrew RT Davies, and Secretary of State for Wales and Vale MP Alun Cairns. Mr Cairns said, “It was wonderful to see so many adults and children enjoying all that the community library has to offer. I thought I would have a chat with some local school children to see how they were enjoying the newly revamped library, but they were far too engrossed in the wide variety of books for that.
“Credit must be given to the dedicated volunteers who have given so much time and effort to provide this service in Rhoose. It was clear to see on Saturday how widely enjoyed it truly is.”
