Former bomb disposal expert, Steven Jones will be racing across Europe in a Rally for Heroes in aid of armed forces charity SSAFA.
Over the course of 10 days Mr Jones, a sufferer of PTSD, will drive more than 3,000 miles through a total of 10 countries, including Luxembourg, Croatia, Bosnia and Italy, along with Rally drivers from across the UK.
Mr Jones suffered from PTSD after he left the RAF, and has said, “I want to help raise money for the SSAFA as a way of saying thank you for the invaluable help I received”.
Vale of Glamorgan MP, Alun Cairns, met with Mr Jones recently and describes Mr Jones as a, “credit to the local community.
“This is a huge feat but I know Steven’s determination will see him through the challenge.
“The SSAFA provides lifelong support to serving men, women and veterans from the British Armed Forces. Without the SSAFA many veterans and others who benefit from the charity, wouldn’t be able to recover and return to normality after serving.
Steven has suffered incredibly with PTSD but hasn’t let this stop him- he wants to give back to those who helped him onto the road to recovery.”
The rally will start from Horse Guards Parade on 2nd August.
