Prince Charles arrival at Aston Martin in St Athan market the latest stage of a major success of the Vale attracting such a prestigious manufacturer, according to local MP, Alun Cairns. Mr Cairns who played a part in the negotiations said that he was delighted that the Price of Wales came to see the cars made locally and that production levels were about to be increased.
Several hundred people are already employed at the site and Aston Martin are in the process of recruiting more as they approach optimum production levels of their SUV supercar, the DBX.
It was a pleasure to welcome HRH The Prince of Wales to the new Aston Martin facility in St Athan. After many years of work and focus by the community and management, it is a delight to see the plant up and running. This is a major coup for the Vale of Glamorgan and Wales.
“The decision to build their first SUV in St Athan, creating up to 750 jobs, is a huge boost to the local area. This type of investment from such an established business highlights how much the Vale has to offer.
“I’m delighted that the skills and talents of a Vale of Glamorgan prominent workforce will be delivering the high-quality products that this flagship British brand is renowned for across the world.”
