Vale MP and Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns visited Cowbridge Comprehensive School to congratulate staff and pupils on being recognised as the best comprehensive school in Wales.
This national recognition was awarded as part of the Sunday Times’ Best UK Schools Guide 2018.
Mr Cairns was given a tour by Head Girl Henrietta Glanville, Head Boy Daniel Marshall and Deputy Head Boy Patrick Sheppard, who commented on how proud they were to be Prefects at the award-winning school.
The MP praised the Head Teacher for the success of the school. He said, “I commend Mrs Thomas, the teachers, staff and Governing body for creating and nurturing such a positive learning environment for the pupils of Cowbridge Comprehensive School.
“I am delighted that their hard work and dedication has been recognised on a national platform and that young people in Cowbridge and the surrounding area can reap the benefits of attending this successful school.
“Speaking to a number of pupils during my visit, I was thoroughly impressed by their ambitiousness. From years 7 right up to 13, there was a positive attitude amongst the students, all of whom agreed that the constructive and supportive culture within the school provided them with the very best chance to achieve their aspirations.
“I wish the school the very best for the future!”
