Vale of Glamorgan MP Alun Cairns has raised a total of £7,000 after running the most recent London Marathon.
This year marked the Vale MPs 7th London Marathon and he finished the 26 mile course impressively in 3 hours 56 minutes- considering the hot weather that the runners had to deal with.
£7,000 has been raised so far by the MP and those donations will be given to NSPCC and Atal Y Fro, who do brilliant work in the Vale and across Wales.
The NSPCC do vital work to help children who have been abused to rebuild their lives. In Wales the NSPCC refers an average of 16 reports of child neglect every week to Welsh police and social services.
Atal y Fro, is a local charity that supports victims of domestic violence. They support families to break the cycle of violence and provide accommodation for women and their children.
Commenting after the marathon, Mr Cairns said "it was a tough run in really challenging heat, but knowing that the funds are going to such great causes and depend on me finishing the course, pushed me to keep going.
"I have come across some of the most horrendous cases of domestic abuse and child neglect at my constituency surgeries. I have been able to point victims to the NSPCC and to Atal y Fro and have seen first hand the transformation they have brought to the lives of local children and families.
"I appreciate many calls are made in favour of needy causes and hope you are able to extend your generosity to help these charities".
