A full fibre broadband rollout in Llantwit Major is now underway, bringing ultra-fast speeds to residential and commercial premises across Llantwit and the Vale.
Local MP, Alun Cairns met with the Welsh Broadband provider Ogi who are leading the rollout in the Vale recently to find out more. Ogi have already begun work here in Llantwit Major and elsewhere in the Vale of Glamorgan in Rhoose and St Athan with Dinas Powys set to benefit soon too.
Alun Cairns met Chief Technology & Operations Officer, Justin Leese and Chief Marketing Officer, Mari Stevens at Ogi’s base in Llantwit to discuss the exciting rollout and how residents and local businesses might benefit.
Commenting on Ogi’s rollout Alun Cairns stated, “I am hugely excited by Ogi’s plans in the Vale. They are a proud Welsh company aimed at bringing ultrafast broadband speed right to your door.”
“This is only good news for communities right across the Vale making our area a more attractive place to invest and live. You may see disruption across Llantwit from work Ogi is completing but I have been reassured these works will be quick and efficient, leaving no mess behind them, only ultrafast broadband!”
Ogi’s Justin Leese, said: “We’re bringing faster speeds and Welsh-based broadband services to places that have been previously underserved, like Llantwit Major.
“We’re building an all-new home-grown 10Gbps capable broadband network from scratch in the community, something that takes time. Our local 'big dig' is underway, and some of you are already receiving an ultrafast, ultra-reliable service from us. Thank you for your patience as we continue to make our way through the town. I can’t wait to see our Ogi broadband providing future-ready connectivity to more homes and businesses in Llantwit Major soon.”
The rollout in Llantwit is due to be completed in the coming months, with Ogi’s services available to home and business customers by the spring.
