On Saturday 18th March, an emergency meeting took place for the residents of Llandow to discuss the recent 2000-tonne rubbish fire at Llandow Industrial Estate. As a result of the blaze, which started on 2nd March and burned for two weeks, black smoke billowed over the village of Llandow, reaching as far as Bridgend and Barry.
Hosting the meeting at Llandow Village Hall was Vale MP, Alun Cairns. Commenting on the meeting, Mr Cairns said “The fact that over 40 people turned up to the meeting on a Saturday morning, to express their concerns, demonstrates the urgent need for an investigation of the site.
“I am in ongoing discussions with Natural Resources Wales and South Wales Fire Service to ensure that appropriate action is being taken by all bodies to address residents’ concerns. First and foremost, safety must be the priority!”
