A group of concerned homeowners have approached the Vale MP with their concerns regarding the poor state of roads and amenities in the White Farm estate.
Since opening in 2013, there have been numerous issues regarding the standard of roads, gardens flooding and in particular the emergence of a sink hole (surface depression) on the main access road.
Residents expressed concern over crumbling roads and speed bumps, but also pointed out a continued lack of road signs, dog bins and children’s play areas on the estate.
In response to complaints MP Alun Cairns has been working, alongside councillors Leighton Rowlands and Vince Bailey, with Persimmon to solve the issues.
Persimmon have since agreed to take responsibility for any highway defects around the estate and make all necessary repairs, which includes the sink hole that has emerged and replacing the defected raised plateau with a tarmacadam material.
MP Alun Cairns said “A number of residents from White Farm have raised concerns about the highway issues, sink hole and garden floods with not only me, but also the two Dyfan councillors Leighton Rowlands and Vincent Bailey.
“It’s important that when homeowners purchase their home, they don’t have to worry about issues like these that are not their responsibility. But because the roads around White Farm remaining under the ownership of Persimmon, the maintenance of the road is still there responsibility.
“That’s why we approached Persimmon and worked with them on improvements that needed to be done and I’m happy that they have agreed to do this and will start work in the near future.”
In a letter to White Farm Residents, Dyfan Councillors Vincent Bailey and Leighton Rowlands said:
“It’s a relief to see Persimmon giving ground at last and we are grateful to Alun Cairns for mediating these talks.
“Local residents pay council tax and you deserve a decent standard of care, which is why it is disappointing that it has taken so long to make progress.
“This is, however, good news and hopefully paves the way towards the Vale Council formally adopting the estate.”
Persimmon will shortly advise Mr Cairns and residents on the completion date for the works.
