Local MP, Alun Cairns, attended Barry Rotary Club’s Annual Duck Race in the Knap Gardens, Barry last weekend. He was amongst hundreds of locals who took to the Knap Lake to make the most of the great weather and family entertainment on offer.
Jill Osborne, president of the Rotary Club, alongside the other club members lined up a showcase of fun-filled events throughout the day including the duck race, multiple game and food stalls, BBQ, bouncy castles, art and crafts and even the opportunity to have your picture taken with a unicorn.
Mr Cairns commented on the day saying, “The whole day was a total success. It’s great to see Barry Rotary Club providing an opportunity for so many local groups and charity fundraisers to showcase themselves, such as Shelter Box who aim to provide emergency aid, shelter and tools for families around the world who have been so unfortunately caught up in natural disasters.”
This is only the second year the Duck Race has taken place at their Summer Fete but the huge turnout will no doubt ensure that it will remain a regular feature at the club’s Fete, helping to continue their support of local causes in the future.
Jill Osborne herself commenced the finale race, with the winner grabbing a £100 prize. It is safe to say the day went swimmingly…
