Willowmere care agency on High Street, Barry will be hosting a ‘meet the Grinch event’ at the High Street Christmas light switch on November 25th.
The purpose of the event is to raise money for visits to lonely elderly people in Barry during the Christmas period.
The agreed theme of the High Street Light Switch on Ceremony will be Victorian dress, but the care agency is going in a different direction to attract families to support their good cause.
They will be offering games, hot chocolate, and face painting in an effort to collect as much cash as possible to relieve the loneliness that many older people in Barry face over the festive period.
Care manager Jan will undergo a transformation at the hands of Grace, the agency’s receptionist and keen make-up artist.
Vale MP Alun Cairns is encouraging local people to visit the Christmas light switch-on and the ‘Meet the Grinch’ activities specifically.
He said, “I have seen the preparations that Willowmere are making for the event, including the very high standard of make-up that will be applied to make the Grinch a reality. I expect that fun activities and warm snacks that they will be offering will be very popular with local people and I encorage everyone in Barry to come down and support their cause.
“It is heart-breaking that so many older people in Barry are left alone and go without human contact at Christmas time. Please support Willowmere’s fun-fundraising effort on the 25th November at the Christmas light switch on to spread some Christmas cheer to those who will need it most."
