Ahead of the triggering of Article 50, Dinas Powys residents were given an exclusive opportunity to be presented with information on the UK Government’s current position in the Brexit process, straight from the Cabinet table.
Vale MP Alun Cairns gave the residents a detailed summary of the current developments, including the effects which Vale residents and business owners can expect in both the short-term and long-term future.
An interactive Question & Answer session followed, with residents raising challenging questions on trade deals, maintaining relations with the remaining European Union member states, and the method of deciding which powers, returned from Brussels, will be devolved to the Welsh Government.
Mr Cairns said, “This is a matter on which many Vale residents have very worthy questions, therefore meetings such as this are the ideal opportunity to provide a direct response. I will try my upmost to keep my constituents informed as the Brexit process continues.
“I will be holding another meeting of the same format in the Llantonian Hall, Llantwit Major, on Thursday 30th March at 6.30pm for anybody who could not attend the meeting in Dinas Powys.”
