The Rhoose Parks Action Group continue to pressure the local authority for the improvement of parks in the village.
The group met on Friday 1 September at Ceri Road Park where they presented their proposals to Vale MP Alun Cairns.
Work to install new equipment at Ceri Road Park has begun, however the group are concerned that the development work is not being undertaken as a matter of priority. Further, the group are requesting that Heol Y Dryw Park be adopted by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, as it currently remains the responsibility of the developer David Wilson Homes, who have failed to refurbish the children’s play area in the past seven years.
Following the meeting Mr Cairns said, “Ordinarily it would be a Community Council who would take responsibility for parks in a village. This clearly is not the case in Rhoose due to the current absence of a Community Council. I am pleased that the Vale of Glamorgan Council have begun work on Ceri Road Park and I will continue to monitor their progress.
“It concerns me that parks in the more rural areas of the Vale have not been given necessary refurbishments in the past five years. I am keen to work with the Vale’s new administration to ensure that this is not the case again in another five years.”
A vote will be held on 8 September at 7pm in the Stewart Road Community Centre to determine whether a referendum should be held on whether or not Rhoose should form a Community Council. All residents are urged to attend the vote.
