Vale grocery business Filco has raised £20,000 for the charity Alzheimers Society in the last 18 months, adding to the £150,000 total that the company has raised for local causes.
The cheque for the money raised was handed over to Stacey Howdon of the Alzheimers Society, at a Gala Dinner in the St David’s Hotel, Cardiff Bay.
Arriving to a red carpet were Filco Chief Executive Ian Hunt, as well as the hundreds of Filco employees who are based in the Cowbridge and Llantwit Major stores.
Also attending the Gala Dinner was Vale MP Alun Cairns who congratulated the company on its fundraising efforts. He said, “Raising such a significant sum of money does not come without a lot of hard work and I commend all at Filco who have played their part. Not only does fundraising such as this provide immense support to this thoroughly deserving charity, but also raises much needed awareness of an illness that will touch the lives of most people in the UK, whether it’s directly or through a loved one. Well done once again to Filco and what a wonderful event to celebrate all of the hard work!”
