Welsh Harpist Rhys Wardhaugh (15) played beautifully during the St David's Day Reception at No.10 to over 100 VIP guests including the Prime Minister, Ambassadors and Government Ministers.
The journey home from the reception with heavy snow falling and jack-knifed lorries on the motorway was more dramatic.
Rhys and his Mother, Bethan made it as far as Newport before being forced to leave the motorway due to the severe weather.
They stayed in the Premier Inn Hotel – and left the harp in the car, safely wrapped up duvets and sleeping bags (part of their contingency plan in case of getting stuck).
Rhys is more than impressive - when we witnessed his talents, and his commitment to get to London for the event. Thank you and well done.
Rhys was joined by Cowbridge Comprehensive head teacher Mrs Thomas and Head Boy Daniel Marshall.
