I would like to begin by thanking everyone who supported me as I took part in my 8th London Marathon this weekend to raise money for Dementia Revolution and Guide Dogs. It was hard work and I was nervous before it started but I’m delighted to have got over the line!
Successfully completing the Marathon means that the kind donations that I have received so far can go towards supporting the work that these two brilliant charities carry out. Back in Barry, I’m pleased that the Vale Council have kept the pressure on the Welsh Government to decide on whether Barry Biomass needs to carry out an environmental impact assessment before the incinerator becomes fully operational.
Readers will be aware that I strongly opposed the incinerator from the outset 9 years ago. I feel that it is absolutely right that they are held to the highest standards. The Welsh Government needs to stop delaying and reach a decision, in the best interest of local residents. I will continue to follow this matter closely.
Finally, today I launch my Instagram competition to find the most beautiful pictures taken across the Vale of Glamorgan. We’re so fortunate to live in an incredibly beautiful area and I think it’s right that we celebrate it. I ran the competition last year and was pleased to see so many fantastic entries. All pictures will be displayed at the Vale Agricultural Show on 7th August, where people will get the opportunity to vote for their favourite. All entries must be submitted by 31st July.
