Cowbridge Town AFC have held their annual presentation evening, handing out trophies to all players and individual awards for Managers Player of the Year, Players Player of the Year and Clubman of the Year in each age group for the 2018/19 season along with the Team of the Year Award.
The evening at Cowbridge Leisure Centre was a busy affair, with the club continuing to grow in popularity and size. Currently, the number of registered players is approaching 400 and they field sides from Under 7 to Under 16, along with a Youth and Senior side.
Individual awards were presented by Vale MP Alun Cairns, with the Team of the Year award presented by the Club founder Eric Rodgers’ granddaughter Anya Davies. The Team of the Year for this season was the Seniors who won the Barry Cup this season.
Chairman Cowbridge Town, Rhys Williams, said, “It was fantastic to see everyone at the presentation evening and huge congratulations to our teams right through from the minis and juniors to the seniors on their performances this season. In particular, I want to recognise the brilliant season enjoyed by the Seniors, who fully deserve the Team of the Year award. Looking ahead, we’re very keen to continue to expand and establish an all-girls team and extend a warm welcome to girls who are keen to get involved.”
Mr Cairns commented, “It was fantastic to be involved in Cowbridge Town’s presentation evening. They are a fantastic example of a real community club and I’m always impressed with the positive feeling amongst everyone involved. Congratulations to everyone earned an award and well done to all teams on a successful season.”
