Vale MP Alun Cairns has announced the winner of his annual Instagram competition is 12-year-old Haneen, who is part of Shutter Hire Kids Photography Club in Dinas Powys. The winning picture captured flowers overlooking Whitmore Bay on Barry Island.
Mr Cairns holds the competition throughout the summer to find the best pictures from across Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan, with keen photographers of all levels submitting pictures with the hashtags #LoveTheVale or #BestOfBarry.
Entries to the competition were displayed at the Vale Show and visitors given the opportunity to vote for their favourite. Following the vote, Haneen’s picture came out as the public’s top choice! Haneen has been an enthusiastic member of the photography club, run by Katrina Dimech, and was over the moon to see her work rewarded.
The Vale MP said, “I’m delighted to announce that Haneen has won my Instagram competition. She submitted an excellent picture, which clearly went down well with the public. It’s great to see young people taking an interest in photography and I pay tribute to people like Katrina who are giving them an opportunity to get involved through her club in Dinas.”
