After two years of discussions with Openreach and work with local community groups, the final stage of Fibre To The Premises Community Fund Partnership in Llangan have recently been complete. Local MP, Alun Cairns paid tribute to the way the community had facilitated the plan.
As of October 2019, the first properties in Llangan were connected to the upgraded network. Before the upgrade, residents of the village only had access to 1MBPs despite businesses operating in the area and a number of residents working from home.
Local MP, Alun Cairns, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Llangan will soon have access to ultrafast broadband, it’s great news that we have been looking forward to for some time.”
“I want to pay tribute to the members of the community who have worked hard to achieve this, most notably the Community Council.
“The world today is connected through the internet, which is why I have also been doing all I can to improve broadband across the Vale. Ultrafast broadband plays an essential role in supporting our economy by attracting investment and providing the platform for local businesses to grow.
“This upgrade will be transformative for local residents and businesses operating in the area. I know local estate agents point to fast speeds as being attractive to buyers.
Christive Cave, County Councillor for the area has welcomed the completion of this project. Shesaid; “We’re incredibly excited about finally securing ultrafast broadband for the community of Llangan.
“The delivery of this project will see the entire village connected – including a number of businesses and residents who work from home. It will without question digitally transform every aspect of our lives.
“This wouldn’t have been made a reality without the strength and support shown by the local community.”
