Work is now underway at Barry Train Station for the new Access for All Bridge which will include a lift to ensure the station is fully accessible.
I caught up with Network Rail to discuss their plans and progress. Barry, as South Wales premier beach resort has longed for an accessible train station for all to use safely.
This development is part of Network Rails wider plans in the Vale which has also seen Eastbrook Station in Dinas Powys achieve an upgrade on a new footbridge. As well as Cadoxton Station which saw a similar upgrade last summer. I greatly welcome Network Rails commitment to the Vale in achieving access for all.
Work is expected to be completed for Barry Station in Summer 2022, looking forward to this making a real difference for passengers in Barry.
