It is not often that a Royal Navy Squadron arrive in Barry armed with paint brushes and rollers, but that is what happened at 11th Barry Sea Scouts last week. Seven members of the 815 Naval Air Squadron based in Somerset pitched up at the scout hut on Ilminster Street in Barry to refurbish the premises. The squadron chose the scout group, run by Bryan Foley, as part of a community initiative.
Mr Cairns said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the 815 Naval Air Squadron to Barry. They put in a huge amount of work over several days to refurbish the popular scout hut. It is to their credit that they made arrangements to travel from Somerset in their own downtime just to give the 11th Barry Sea Scouts a helping hand.”
